Dans ce nouveau livre, le prolique écrivain Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet se livre à une autre aventure intellectuelle : il fait taire un peu son imagination débordante pour regarder l’histoire avec rationalisme et esprit critique. Cela lui permet de se mettre à l’abri du vieux conit idéologique qui porte certains historiens haïtiens à occulter la vérité pour mieux défendre des intérêts de classe. Au nom de cette vérité, le professeur accepte de s’éloigner un peu de l’histoire scolaire pour alimenter la réexion sur certaines analyses faites par d’autres chercheurs à propos de quelques faits historiques. Il en prote aussi pour aider les Haïtiens à mieux évaluer l’action politique de certains chefs d’État qui ont dominé la scène politique pendant la seconde moitié du vingtième siècle. Eddy Bastien
